Hubble Telescope 30th anniversary interview with Bill Johnston
Air Force Captain William “Bill” Johnston worked for over 30 years for Lockheed and Lockheed/Martin, and towards the end of his career managed several satellite programs, including the design and construction of the Hubble Space Telescope. In this excerpt from his full interview, conducted as part of the National Space Society Chapters’ Assembly “Breakfast On The Moon #3” series, (see sacramentol5society.nss.org for all videos), Captain Johnston discusses the process of constructing the main body of this groundbreaking astronomical instrument.
