Executive Summary

The August 7 update continues to identify several NSS chapter websites with visible evidence of current or recent programming. Sacramento L5 Society shows an August 8 SpaceTalks listing; North Houston Space Society shows July 11 officer and board updates; Chicago Society for Space Studies has a July 4 article; Oklahoma Space Alliance carries July 2026 Update and Outreach material; and NSS of North Texas continues to show its July 12 meeting as the latest clearly dated meeting post found in this scan. Other chapters may communicate primarily through Meetup, email, social media, partner organizations, or NSS channels not reflected on a chapter homepage.

Chapters with the Clearest Recent Website Activity

Active Chapters Whose Websites Show Activity Less Clearly

• Huntsville Alabama L5 Society (HAL5): The chapter site remains online, but its visible news-and-events page is substantially older. Current activity, if any, is not easy to verify from the homepage alone.
• NSS Seattle: The chapter site remains useful as an archive, but clearly dated current activity is not prominent there. Meeting activity may be communicated through Meetup or partner channels.
• OASIS – Los Angeles: The website remains online and points visitors toward an events calendar and cooperating organizations, but clearly dated 2026 chapter posts were less prominent than on the leading sites.

Sites That Appear Less Recently Updated

• Oregon L5 Society: The site remains reachable and advertises monthly meetings, but much of the presentation and visible content appears older.
• Denver Space Society: The chapter remains represented in NSS activities, but a clearly current chapter news stream or frequently updated local website was not readily evident.

Comparative Observations

• Sacramento and Chicago: Emphasize substantial articles, projects, and durable educational content; Sacramento currently shows the more frequent meeting-note and SpaceTalk cadence.
• North Texas and North Houston: Use event-centered sites that make present and upcoming activity easy to recognize, though careful date proofreading remains important.
• Oklahoma: Demonstrates that a plain legacy-style site can remain highly useful when minutes, updates, and newsletters are kept current.

Principal conclusion. A polished design does not necessarily indicate an active chapter, and an old-fashioned design does not necessarily indicate inactivity. The most useful chapter websites make recent meetings, newsletters, projects, and contact information immediately visible.
